Description

Eighteen pounds sounds like a downside until you understand what it buys you. A light tripod walks in the wind and shivers every time a loaded truck rolls past. This one plants. If you're running a robotic total station or a rotary laser that has to hold grade all day, the weight is the feature.

The dual clamp is the reason to pick this over a standard quick-clamp tripod. You slam the quick clamp for fast setups, then snug the wing screw to kill any remaining play in the leg. Two independent locks per leg means a slipping clamp never costs you a setup, and worn clamps don't retire the tripod.

Fiberglass is the right call for the legs, and not just for toughness.
